Renovation Electrical Work

Renovation electrical work is the difference between a finished house that lives well and one where you keep noticing what's missing. The lighting that's almost right but not quite. The power point that ended up six inches from where you actually wanted it. The aircon head that wasn't planned for so it sits awkwardly on the wall. We get involved early, ideally before the gyprock goes up, so the wiring serves the design instead of fighting it.

What we cover across a renovation: custom electrical systems including cabling, power outlets, and energy-efficient setups for new homes and renovations; energy-efficient LED downlights, dimmers, and full home automation solutions; expertly installed ceiling fans, exhaust systems, and whole-home ventilation solutions; and energy-efficient underfloor heating solutions for year-round comfort. We work to architect drawings, builder programs, and the client brief, and we'll flag where a small design change unlocks a much better electrical outcome before the cables get pulled.

Where the value really shows up: the planning conversations early in the build. Where the kitchen island will sit, what the bedside power needs look like for charging, whether the bathroom wants heated floors, whether the home automation is going to be Clipsal, Push, Loxone or a lightweight Shelly setup. We've worked with most of the high-end builders and architects across the Northern Beaches, so we're used to fitting into a tight program and a designer spec without compromising either.

On weatherboard cottages, 1980s solid brick homes and the modern coastal renovations going in across Avalon, Bilgola, Newport and Mona Vale, the electrical scope is rarely just "like-for-like." There's almost always a switchboard conversation, an EMR-aware wiring discussion if the client cares about it, a future-proofing layer for EV charging and solar, and a smart-home decision that needs to be made before first fix. We take you through all of it, then execute.

When to call us

  • Custom electrical systems, including cabling, power outlets, and energy-efficient setups for new homes and renovations.
  • Energy-efficient LED downlights, dimmers, and full home automation solutions.
  • Expertly installed ceiling fans, exhaust systems, and whole-home ventilation solutions.
  • Energy-efficient underfloor heating solutions for year-round comfort.
  • Kitchen renovation needing rewired benches, induction circuits and refreshed lighting
  • Whole-house renovation needing a coordinated electrical scope from first fix to commissioning

Our process

  1. Pre-build conversation: We sit down with you and the builder or architect early, before first fix, to walk the plans and flag where electrical decisions need to be made.
  2. Design and quote: Fixed-price scope covering rough-in, fit-off, switchboard work, automation and any specialty systems like underfloor heating or whole-home ventilation.
  3. First fix: All cable runs pulled before linings go on, with EMR-aware routing where the client cares about it. Marked up against the builder's drawings.
  4. Coordination: We stay in the builder's program, turning up when we said we would, communicating clearly when something needs to change, not holding up the trades after us.
  5. Fit-off: Switches, power points, lighting, ceiling fans, exhaust systems, smart-home controllers all installed neatly to the finished surfaces.
  6. Commissioning and handover: Test, certificate, walk-through with you so you actually know how the systems work before you move back in.

Why choose Electrix all Blew

We're a family-run electrical business based in Bilgola Plateau. Over 38+ years on the Northern Beaches means we know the housing stock - weatherboard home, 1980s solid bricks, strata buildings - and what tends to fail in each.

We're licensed for electrical and air conditioning. We carry full public liability and contractor insurance. We turn up when we say we will, we call ahead when we're 20 minutes out, and we hold to 1-hour appointment windows.

Our 113 Google reviews sit at a 5.0 average. That's the result of doing the work properly the first time, not chasing reviews.

Frequently asked

When should I bring an electrician into the renovation?

As early as possible, ideally before the design is locked in. The electrical conversations at that stage (switchboard, downlight grid, power point positions, smart-home backbone, EV future-proofing) shape what's possible later. Bringing us in after first fix is locked is when compromises start.

Do you work with architects and builders directly?

Yes. We've worked with most of the high-end builders and several architects across the Northern Beaches. We're comfortable on site with the program, communicate clearly with the site supervisor, and know how to fit into a tight schedule.

What about home automation, Clipsal, Loxone, Shelly?

We install across the major platforms. Clipsal C-Bus and Wiser for traditional integrated systems, Loxone for design-led smart homes, Push Smart for a lighter scene-control layer, and Shelly or Sonoff for budget-conscious retrofits. We'll walk you through which makes sense for the house and the budget.

Can you handle underfloor heating?

Yes, both hydronic (working with the plumber) and electric in-slab or in-screed systems for bathrooms and smaller zones. Sized correctly, controlled by a programmable thermostat, and commissioned properly so it actually heats when you want it to.

Will the renovation need a switchboard upgrade?

Almost always, on homes more than 20 years old. New circuits for induction cooking, air con, EV charging and added power demand usually push older boards over capacity. We assess at quote stage and include it in scope if needed.
