Emergency Electrician

If the power's out and the street isn't, you can smell something burning behind a switch, water's reached a powerpoint, or the switchboard keeps tripping and won't reset, that's the call. We'd rather you ring during business hours and have us tell you it can wait than guess and risk it. If it's outside business hours and life-threatening, call 000.

What we cover: total power loss with the grid still up, burnt or melted switch plates, exposed live wiring after storm damage, renos or pest work, switchboards or RCDs that won't reset, smoke or scorching from a fitting, hot powerpoints or light switches, faults on a circuit you can't isolate, and hot water or oven dead with no obvious cause.

When you ring during business hours (Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.30pm) Amber or Steve answers. We ask what's going on, what you can see and smell, and whether anyone's at risk. If it's safe to wait, we'll tell you. If it's not, Steve heads out the same day. We call ahead when we're close, work the fault, make the site safe, and only then talk repair scope.

We've been working across Avalon, Bilgola, Newport, Mona Vale, Palm Beach and the surrounding northern beaches for over 20 years. Steve has 38+ years on the tools, so we've seen most faults before, including the awkward ones in 1980s solid brick homes and strata buildings where the original wiring has had a few rounds of well-meaning rework.

When to call us

  • Storm damage with exposed wiring or water at a powerpoint
  • Dead power point in a nursery or child's bedroom
  • RCD or main switch that keeps tripping and won't reset
  • Burning smell coming from the switchboard or a wall fitting
  • Lost power to half the house with the street still on
  • EV charger circuit tripped and won't restore

Our process

  1. Phone call: You ring during business hours and Amber or Steve answers. We ask what's happening and whether it's safe to wait.
  2. Safe-to-wait check: We talk you through isolating the main if you can do it safely. If life is at risk outside hours, we direct you to 000.
  3. Same-day attendance: Steve heads out the same business day for genuine emergencies, with a 20-minute heads-up call before arrival.
  4. Make-safe on site: We isolate the fault, secure the site, and confirm nothing is live where it shouldn't be before any repair starts.
  5. Diagnose and quote: We work the actual cause, not just the symptom, then give you a fixed price for the repair before we proceed.
  6. Repair and tidy: Work done to AS/NZS 3000, fittings replaced like-for-like or upgraded if you'd prefer, and the area left clean.

Why choose Electrix all Blew

We're a family-run electrical business based in Bilgola Plateau. Over 38+ years on the Northern Beaches means we know the housing stock - weatherboard home, 1980s solid bricks, strata buildings - and what tends to fail in each.

We're licensed for electrical and air conditioning. We carry full public liability and contractor insurance. We turn up when we say we will, we call ahead when we're 20 minutes out, and we hold to 1-hour appointment windows.

Our 113 Google reviews sit at a 5.0 average. That's the result of doing the work properly the first time, not chasing reviews.

Frequently asked

What counts as an electrical emergency?

Loss of power with the grid still on, burnt smell from a fitting, exposed live wiring, switchboard that won't reset, water reaching a powerpoint, hot switch plates, or any fault you can't safely isolate.

How quickly can you get there?

We aim to get to genuine emergencies the same business day. We'll give you a realistic window on the phone.

Are you available on weekends, public holidays, or outside business hours?

Not currently. Our trading hours are Mon-Fri 7.30am-4.30pm. If it's life-threatening outside those hours, call 000. Otherwise, book in for the next business day.

What should I do before you arrive?

If it's safe, switch off the main at the meter box. Keep people and pets clear of the affected area. Don't touch damaged fittings. Take a photo if you can.

What does an emergency callout cost?

We quote on the call before we leave. Standard hourly rates plus parts, no after-hours surcharge because we don't take after-hours work.
